First Diabetes Experience
Dianurse: For how long do you suffer from diabetes? Yi Ting: I suffer from Diabetes since I was diagnosed at 9 months of age.
Dianurse: How did you realize it? How did you start your diabetes journey? Yi Ting: Since I was a baby at that time my parents noticed I would cry a lot. I started my diabetes journey very young. Learning how to manage it. Learning what was good for me.
Dianurse: Did you know what diabetes was and how to act with it? Yi Ting: I had to learn what Diabetes was at an early age. Now it´s a piece of cake. I also had to learn how to act with it at an early age and learn the symptoms.

Dianurse: What were your biggest fears at that time? Yi Ting: My biggest fear was not being able to react soon.
How To Manage Diabetes
Dianurse: What’s the best way to manage diabetes, based on your experience? Yi Ting: Based on my experience the best way to manage diabetes is to eat healthy, do a physical activity the one that you most enjoy, always keep control but don´t stress over it. Enjoy life the best you can. Always keep a positive attitude.
Dianurse: Tell us more about your lifestyle, diet, and fitness/sport activities? Yi Ting: I try to keep a healthy lifestyle as possible. This includes emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically. I walk. Love to take walks out in nature. I also enjoy meditating, yoga, and once in a while do some Belly dance just for fun.
Dainurse: What is your favorite dish and why? Yi Ting: My favorite dish is fish and vegetables. I love fish because it´s delicious and because of the nutrients that provide. Vegetables because vegetables are the best.
Dianurse: What would be the best/most effective way to keep your blood sugar in the healthy range, again based on your experience? Yi Ting: Based on my experience the most effective way to keep your blood sugar in the healthy range is eating healthy avoiding junk food, physical activity and keeping control of your glucose.
About diabetes and tech
Dianurse: Technology is rapidly penetrating healthcare. There are literally thousands of apps capable to track vital signs of humans, or simply data loggers ( carbs, blood glucose, etc.). What would be the added value of these technology advances for diabetics? How technology can help diabetics to effectively control their diabetes? Yi Ting: All the sources that we can use are great and we should be thankful for it because they make our lives better. We should keep in mind that we should use the technology that best suits our needs and is good for us.
Dianurse: What do you think about the constant connectivity that tele-health app brings to both diabetics and healthcare providers? Yi Ting: I think it is great because they keep us updated with Diabetes and provide great information which is exactly what we need to carry a healthy lifestyle with Diabetes.
About inspiration …
Dianurse: How can you inspire others to take better care of themselves and their diabetes? Yi Ting: Doing physical activity. Read and learn as much as you can from Diabetes. Don´t be afraid of it. We are empowering and warriors I have lived with diabetes since I was nine months old. I have had some ups and downs but I have tried my best to be positive. Do lots of research and learn from Diabetes. I have learned to enjoy life in a passionate way.
